The Gospel of Costly Grace: (pt 2)

FEED ME!

When I worked at restaurants our main goal was service. Serve the customer, they are always right ya' know. I wont argue that the principals of customer service are somehow totally wrong. Of course I should be curious, kind, hospitable; I should bring people the right food and make sure their drink is refilled. My question and concern is that the consumer has reserved his table in the church. We've sat down at the table and expect to be served and fed.

Another question I ask is, Has church become like going to the movies? Popcorn and king size slushy in hand we are there for the show! Sure we get emotional, even cry. Connect with the story, sometimes feel motivated enough by a hero that we are going change something or someone, save a village, fight evil, fall in love and find purpose in life. I've done this, my guess is we all have.
But as the body of Christ, we cannot afford to sit in on the show; passive spectators on the sidelines. We have plenty of Holy Rollers, so fat from feeding that we have to roll them out of church.

I have the same passion that Pastor Rick Warren states, "moving people from come and see to come and die", from come and see to go and do.
